Bangkok is not an easy city to cycle in, with heavy traffic and heat. Guided bike tours exist so that you can ride the quiet parts, such as canals, back lanes and Bang Krachao, without needing to know the way. This page describes the main kinds of bike tour on offer, and when it is cheaper and simpler to rent a bike and ride on your own.

The two ways to cycle

  • A guided tour, which handles the route, the bike and the traffic.
  • Renting a bike in Bang Krachao, where two guides quote 70–80 THB per day. See Bang Krachao for how to get there. Prices change, so treat that as a rough guide.

The kinds of tour

The tours below are described from their KKday listings (checked October 2026). Details change, so read each listing.

TypeWhat the listing describes
Bang Krachao half-dayAbout four hours, morning and afternoon, with a bike trail and a Siamese fighting fish gallery; meets at Central Silom; cancelled unless at least four people book
Green Oasis nature rideAbout 12.5 km through mangroves and villages, described as mostly flat and suitable for beginners; reaches Bang Krachao by a short longtail boat; includes a Thai lunch
City rideA three-hour ride of about 12 km through alleys, markets and canals, starting at River City Bangkok
Evening food rideAbout three hours and 10–15 km, rated easy, on Tuesday to Saturday from 5:30pm on Sukhumvit Soi 26, visiting Bang Krachao's forests and other parts of the city
Electric bike tourStarts on Charoen Krung Soi 44 in Bang Rak; riders must be at least 12 and 160 cm tall

How to choose

  • Fitness and pace. The listings give distances of roughly 10 to 15 km. If you haven't ridden for a while, choose the shortest and flattest, and check whether an electric bike is offered.
  • Heat. Our suggestion is to take a morning or evening slot; midday is hot for most of the year. See the best time to visit.
  • Group size. The Bang Krachao listing needs four people to run, so check the minimum when you book.
  • What is included. Bike hire, lunch, drinks and entry fees differ between listings.
  • Starting point. Some tours meet in a mall or hotel, others at a pier or station. Work out how you'll get there.

If you'd rather ride alone

Bang Krachao, reached by a short ferry from the Khlong Toei side, is the easiest place to cycle on your own: bikes are rented near the landing and the lanes are quiet. Benjakitti Forest Park has a cycle track around its lake (guides give its length as anywhere from 2 to 3.4 km) and a bike-rental shop near the entrance; one guide quotes 350 THB for two hours. Another warns that the bike lane is busy with walkers and not for fast riding. Check rental hours and prices on the spot. On Bangkok's ordinary roads, we'd advise against cycling without local knowledge (our judgement).
